Creating a KWL Chart (Padlet)

This week's assignment on my ELT class was to create a padlet of our own as a group about a topic selected from a list. Padlet is basically an online notice board tool. This digital notice board is able to feature images, links, videos, and documents, all collated on a "wall" that can be made public or private. This means that not only can teachers post on the wall but so too can students.

The best part of it is the extremely easy usage. Since the interactive space is easy to use and easily accessible from nearly any web browser-capable device, it's a great resource for teachers and students.

Our group decided on making a padlet about the COVID-19 in the KWL format which stands for "Knowledge, Wonder, Learn". For those who don't know, KWL checklists are tables that help students organize information before, during, and after a unit or a lesson. It consists of three segments: What I know, what I wonder and what I learned. After finishing our task, we exchanged reviews of the other's padlets with another group.

Padlet is a great tool that can help the future teachers a lot and the KWL charts have a potential to make a certain subject a lot more entertaining and easy to understand. Both are definitely things that an aspiring teacher should keep in mind!

Reviewing a Movie on a Wiki

As this week's assignment, we were tasked with reviewing a movie on a wiki created by our teacher. This activity was actually aimed on teaching us about wikis.

Wikis are defined as "a website or database developed collaboratively by a community of users, allowing any user to add and edit content". It is a giant encyclopedia that everyone is allowed to add knowledge to it. This creates an amazing medium for people to share their knowledge on a particular subject (assuming they don't get vandalized, of course).

The movie I choose to review is rather unimportant compared to the actual aim of the task but if I have to tell it a little about it, I made a short review for the movie "Avengers: Infinity War". I choose this movie because of the great production quality and the fact that it completely shatters the "good guys always wins" cliche.

All in all, it was a good opportunity to both talk about one of my favourite movies and learn about the concept of wikis. It would definitely help create more and richer wikis if more people had knowledge about them.

Coming To A Closure
